2008 Elite Athlete Travel Reimbursement Policy

Travel Originating from within the Continental U.S.

The race will reimburse the cost of travel based on an advance ticket for those who finish in the top 10 in the men's and women's open race, and the top 10 U.S. men and women finishers. Men and women who place 11th through 15th in the open race will be reimbursed up to $250 or the actual cost of the trip, whichever is less.

For masters men and masters women (age 40 and over) we will reimburse the top two based on an advance ticket. For the third, fourth and fifth masters we will reimburse $250 or the actual cost of the plane fare, whichever is less.

When to Arrive:
For best arrangements and ease of travel, flights should be booked so you will arrive in Falmouth as early as possible on the Friday before the race, Aug. 8, and leave on Monday morning, Aug. 11. The Race Awards Ceremony is over at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, but please note that it will take more than three hours to get to Boston on a summer Sunday afternoon and scheduling a late Sunday afternoon departure may not be practical. We strongly recommend staying until Monday.

How to get to Falmouth:
All flights should be booked into Boston's Logan Airport (or Providence's T.F. Green Airport). The Peter Pan/Bonanza Bus Lines runs a direct bus from LOGAN AIRPORT to Falmouth (it may say Woods Hole on the front of the bus) on a regular basis. Buses from Providence are less frequent and take longer, so it is much better to fly into Boston. You will have to pay for your bus ticket ($47 ROUND TRIP) for which you will be reimbursed. Schedule link is included. The bus you want to take is marked "Woods Hole." That is its final destination, but you get off in Falmouth, and call the race office 508-540-7000. We will come get you at the bus station. No Boston-Hyannis flights will be reimbursed.

ACCOMMODATIONS IN FALMOUTH:
We will be able to provide housing for selected elite athletes in private homes, but this will be decided on a case-by-case basis with preference given to those who contact us before July 15. All athletes who have been promised housing should arrive in Falmouth on Friday, or no later than 6 p.m. on Saturday in order to be housed. Do not bring unexpected guests as we CAN NOT and WILL NOT house any spouses, coaches, friends, etc.

TRAVEL ORIGINATING FROM OUTSIDE THE CONTINENTAL U.S.

Travel from outside the continental U.S. will be reimbursed toward the ACTUAL TICKET purchased as follows:

Men and Women: 1st to 5th - $700; 6th to 10th - $500
Masters, Men and Women: 1st - $600; 2nd - $500; 3rd, 4th and 5th - $250

Foreign athletes who participate in more than one race while in the U.S. should contact the race directors to discuss travel reimbursement and/or split tickets with other races.
